A DM friend has uploaded a Don Voorhees 78 so in response, I am showing a short film clip in which Voorhees leads the Maxwell House Showboat Orchestra.
This is an excerpt from the 10 minute soundie featuring the Cap'n Henry's Showboat cast of performers filmed in New York in 1933. The film features Lanny Ross and Muriel Wilson performing "Tell Me That You Love Me Too". Showboat, which first aired in 1931, was America's most popular radio show three years running from 1933-35. The program was sponsored nationwide by the Maxwell House Coffee Co and was broadcast from NBCs flagship station, WEAF, NY, at ( 9 PM EST on Thursdays. Showboat's top star was Annette Hanshaw and the program also featured Lanny Ross, MUriel Wilson, Molasses and January, and the Showboat 4. Charles Winninger, who played Captain Henry in the radio show was also Cap'n in the Hart-Hammerstein musical Showboat which had opened on Broadway in 1927 and was reprised in '36 with Winninger again in the Cap'n role. He also played the part in the '36 movie. The MC is Tiny Ruffner, Don Voorhees-Orchestra Director, and Kelvin Keech, announcer. At 1:00, Annette Hanshaw can be seen briefly. She performed We Just Couldn't Say Goodbye on this soundie. I have not included it in this vid but have uploaded her performance separately. as "Annette Hanshaw~1933 Film from Maxwell House Showboat ~We Just Couldn't Say Goodbye. It is her only existing film performance.
