Palestinian-American teen beaten by Israeli police released from jail

Tariq Abu Khdeir, the 15-year-old Palestinian-American who was injured during clashes with Israeli security forces last week, has been sentenced to nine days of house arrest. Abu Khdeir left the courthouse accompanied by Knesset Member Ahmad Tibi and spoke to reporters about his treatment. Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said a Jerusalem court ordered Abu Khdeir to remain at home in the East Jerusalem neighbourhood of Beit Hanina. Abu Khdeir’s family says he was severely beaten by Israeli police during protests in Jerusalem last week over the killing of a Palestinian teen. For more stories about Israel, click here
