Waters of despair as floods strike Somalia refugee camp

A refugee camp in Somalia is hit by flash floods, killing at least three chidlren within a week

Now desperation adds to the misery.

(SOUNDBITE) (Somali) INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSON, SHANKARON SIDI, SAYING:

"We sleep in the water. I have four children and we have spent eight consecutive nights in the water. We are homeless day and night. We don't know what to do. We need help."

More than 350 families, who had already been displaced from their homes -- have been left without food and shelter.

And there is no escape from the water.

(SOUNDBITE) (Somali) INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSON, ABDURAHMAN OSMAN ABDI, SAYING:

"Heavy floods took us by surprise. We don't have shelter or a school. We are starving, in the night we stay in the water and we do not have a place to sleep. We are suffering a lot and ask all brothers in the muslim world to offer us help."
