Killer Shrews (1959)

Scientists working on a remote island (the best place for this sort of thing) have been conducting growth experiments, unfortunately choosing to do so with very nasty little vermin. It's just what they do. But the unfortunate result is an isle overrun with dog-sized killer shrews (looking suspiciously like dogs in rodentish drag). Despite the shortcomings, there's still suspenseful moments and an occasional good chill.

Good old-fashioned 1950s fright-fun delivered on an admittedly miniscule budget by producer (and former singing cowboy) Ken Curtis, who doubles as one of the stars/victims in this tale of rodent rampage. Filmed back-to-back with co-feature THE GIANT GILA MONSTER (presumably because filming 'em face-to-face would have the monsters eating each other.)
