A man in Fresno is restoring faith in humanity after turning in $125,000. Joe Cornell is not a wealthy man by any means.

In fact, he only had one single dollar for lunch on the day he found an orange bag chalk full of cash. Cornell had been volunteering at the local Salvation Army when he spotted the bag in the street.

Thinking about the incident, he recalled a Brinks armored truck pulling up as he watered plants. He remembered hearing another driver yell that something had dropped out of the truck.

The Brinks vehicle continued maneuvering down the road. That’s when he did a little investigating and found the money bag lying right in the street.

Cornell immediately called police and turned in the money. He stated “I thought 'What type of man do I want my grandkids to think I am?'.. I'm trying to get my life together and I want them to be proud of me.”

Once The Brinks Company learned Cornell is the man responsible for returning the deposit bag, they gave him a reward of 5 grand. For the past few months, Cornell has been living at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center and receiving help to curb an addition to meth.

Now he and his wife will be using the money to get a fresh start.
