Death toll of Nigeria blasts passes 100

This area was packed with people when the first explosion took place here in Jos, a city in the centre of Nigeria.

The busy market place was targeted in the afternoon.

The aim was to kill as many people as possible.

About 30 minutes later, as the wounded were taken to hospital the second bomb was detonated closeby.

More than 100 people were killed, most of them women....and the death toll is rising.

Bodies were burned beyond recognition and body parts strewn throughout the rubble.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but Boko Haram militants have carried out a spate of recent bombings.

The Islamist extremists are still holding more than 200 schoolgirls.

For the most part the insurgency has been largely confined to the northeast but that's now no longer the case.
