Police in San Diego are searching for an unknown suspect who planted razor blades only steps away from a playground. The objects were scattered on the ground in Bonita Cove in Mission Bay Park.

This incident makes it the fourth time in one year that razor blades have been discovered in the same vicinity. Unfortunately, this time around, two children were injured.

Cassie Padilla is the mother of the kids. Her two boys, aged 15 and 7, were running around barefoot in the park when they stepped on the blades. The younger child was forced to go to the hospital for stitches, as the blade had embedded in his foot.

Police immediately launched a search utilizing metal detectors and found 19 razor blades on the ground. Law enforcement authorities believe all of them had been intentionally planted in the grass.

San Diego police Lt. Paul Phillips stated “I've got children and I can only imagine something like this happening. The first word that comes to my mind is sickness. It's either a sickness or someone who's got an evil mind.”

At this time, police have no leads, but they are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and asking local residents for tips.
