British royals visit Australian air base

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent day four of their Australian tour in Queensland, visiting a Royal Australian Air Force Base (RAAF) and attending a State Reception in Brisbane.

The royals were welcomed at Amberley RAAF Base on Saturday (April 19) by Australian Defence Force Chief, General David Hurley and were shown an F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft.

The duchess wore a white dress with a blue pattern by British fashion house LKBennett and carried a bag by Australian designer Oroton, local media reported.

She also joined her husband for a trip in a Super Hornet simulator, according to their instructor Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Jasper McCaldin.

The young royals planted a Plunkett Mallee tree, or Eucalyptus Curtisii, in a memorial garden and met the families of service personnel killed in recent conflicts at a lunchtime reception.
