Juan Manuel Santos : '' I want to end this conflict with FARC once and for all."

The President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, has been in power since August 2010. Before being elected head of state, he was Minister of Foreign Trade , Minister of Finance and Minister of Defence under President Alvaro Uribe. As Minister of Defence he led a crackdown on FARC , the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia .

Now, for several months, the Colombian government has been holding talks with FARC in order to achieve a peace agreement that would put an end to fifty years of guerrilla warfare. The negotiations are taking place in the Cuban capital Havana.
