Not too many people embrace death with open arms, but some will go to extra lengths while alive to make sure their obituary suits them just right. Take one Swedish male, who decided to create his own obituary.

It’s safe to assume he was a very simple man, as his obit was only 3 words long. It read ‘I am dead’. That’s it, there was nothing else to it.

92-year-old Stig Kernell, who previously worked as an aerospace historian and transport technician passed away on April 6th of this year. Just prior to his death, Kernell gave the instructions to the funeral home regarding his obituary.

His bizarre obit did in fact appear in local newspapers and soon gained popularity online. His children didn’t want people to misinterpret the message as bitterness and they decided to talk to reporters about their dad so everyone could learn a little more about him.

One of Kernell’s sons commented ‘He was a special man with a lot of humor and a twinkle in his eye... It has helped us to cope with the loss of him, in that he was not at all scared of death.’

According to his sons, their father appeared in Guinness World Records for ‘having the largest aviation book collection.’
