Reuters is reporting that a gunman opened fire at the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday (December 17).

Police and SWAT teams responded to reports of shots fired and the medical compound was put on lockdown as authorities combed the center's buildings.

Reno Deputy Police Chief Tom Robinson later confirmed that a female doctor working on the third floor of an adjacent building called the 'Center for Advanced Medicine B' was the gunman's first victim. Two other unidentified medical personnel were also shot and are reported to be in critical condition.

Police say no shots were fired by responding SWAT members or police officers and after combing the building, responders found the body of the gunman, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.

No motive for the shooting has yet emerged and the deceased shooter has yet to be identified. Around 100 people were in the building at the time of the incident and the entire medical campus was declared "safe and secure" around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Police are processing the crime scene and say they hope to identify the gunman by tomorrow.
