At least seven people were injured in clashes between pro-Ukrainian and pro-Russian protesters in Odessa on Thursday (April 10) outside a hotel where a Ukrainian presidential candidate was staying.

Pro-Ukrainian protesters blocked the entrance to Odessa's Promenade Hotel, waving Ukrainian flags.

Outside the hotel, parked cars belonging to candidate Oleg Tsarev's campaign, were covered in rubbish.

Clashes between the protesters broke out after Tsarev supporters arrived. Protesters attacked a bus and burned a Ukrainian nationalist flag.

Tsarev was escorted out of the hotel by special forces to an unknown destination.

Tsarev, who is from Dnepropetrovsk and a former MP from the Party of Regions, was also involved in scuffles with Ukrainian supporters in Nikolaev earlier this week.
