AFRICA NEWS - Central African Republic: Security Council backs peacekeeping force

The UN Security Council has voted to deploy a peacekeeping force to the Central African Republic. The country has faced escalating violence since a short-lived takeover by Seleka rebels last year triggered a violent crisis. Thursday's vote authorised a force of around 12,000, which will be called MINUSCA. It will be sent in on September 15th to take over from the African Union's mission.
