For some people, there is a plus side to snail mail, because once in awhile, a long lost letter can finally make it to the recipient at just the right moment. A woman in Brooklyn, Susan Heifetz is shocked after receiving a birthday card from her parents that was mailed 45 years ago.

Heifetz just received the letter last week, but the post date on the envelope was June 26th, 1969. The mail piece was sent to the apartment where Heifetz and her family lived over four decades ago.

The current tenant received the letter and contacted Heifetz via phone. She reflected on the conversation stating ‘He said on the back there was a lipstick mark — and that’s something my mother did with letters — seal it with a kiss’.

After receiving that card from the kind tenant, she got another letter from 1969 in the mail from a former boyfriend. Shortly after that, a third piece of mail postmarked 1969 came in from her brother.

To Heifetz, the stream of decades old mail proves that her parents are watching over her. It also helped her get closure on her decision to let go of the past and move out of Brooklyn so she can be close to her brother Barry in Las Vegas.
