It's a scene played out in Ukraine's east, with U.S. Secretary of State pointing the finger at Russian ambitions.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) US SECRETARY OF STATE JOHN KERRY, SAYING:

"Russia's clear and unmistakable involvement in destabilizing and engaging in separatist activities in the East of Ukraine is more than deeply disturbing. No one should be fooled, and believe me, no one is fooled by what could potentially be a contrived pretext for military intervention just saw saw in Crimea."

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says the situation could improve if Kiev took into account the interests of mainly Russian speaking regions.
