Preparations for the country’s premiere exhibition dedicated solely to the promotion of women entrepreneurs, the WEXNET exhibition, are in full swing at Lahore. The organizing body, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan is holding the 8th edition of the mega event WEXNET 2014, at Expo Centre Lahore, from 21st to 23rd March, 2014. For the first time ever the exhibition will feature international exhibitors apart from an assortment of domestic participants, whereas special regional quotas have been reserved for female business women residing in Baluchistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhthunkhwa.
The event is being widely publicized throughout the country, along with international promotional efforts through Pakistan’s Commercial Sections spread across six continents. Invitations to prominent women entrepreneurs and thinkers across the region, from Thailand, Malaysia, Middle East and Turkey are being sent out, whilst international speakers at the event’s opening activity, the “WEXNET Women of Substance Conference”, are being hailed from the world over.
WEXNET is a formalized platform which provides women with the opportunity to exhibit their products, network with each other, learn from others’ experiences and form collaborations and partnerships for mutual benefits. Organized for the first time in 2001, WEXNET has become a regular feature of the TDAP agenda.
This year, an effort will be made for participation of foreign exhibitors, as well as representation from all regions of the country. The one-day conference will host delegates who will talk about women in the workplace, hurdles they that are commonly faced, while sharing their experiences and success stories. A Fashion show will be held where local fashion schools will be invited to participate for which special prizes will be distributed. The event itself will be a three-day affair, whereby budding female entrepreneurs will display their product lines to international delegates, local dignitaries, corporate visitors and the general public.
