Woman Accused of Killing Husband by Injecting His Steroids With Anti-Freeze

A woman in Smyrna, Delaware has been accused of poisoning her husband by putting anti freeze in his steroids.
A woman in Smyrna, Delaware has been accused of poisoning her husband by putting anti freeze in his steroids. 44-year-old Jamie Baker was recently taken into police custody following a lengthy investigation into her spouse, James D. Baker II’s death.
On September 16th, 2013, first responders arrived at the couple’s home to find James’ dead body inside a bedroom. An autopsy was soon performed and it revealed that ethylene glycol, a component commonly found in anti-freeze, had collected in the victim’s kidneys.
Troopers who responded to the home seized numerous bottles of liquid steroids, pills and syringes as evidence. The steroids were sent to a laboratory for testing and the results showed they had been laced with ethylene glycol which coincided with the autopsy findings.
That led the medical examiner to rule the cause of death as a homicide by poisoning. After a little more digging, investigators learned James stored his steroids in a locked toolbox inside a closet at his residence, meaning there was limited access to them.
Detectives recently executed a search warrant at the home and spoke to Jamie. She allegedly confessed to extracting anti-freeze using a syringe and injecting into her husband’s steroids.
No motive was released, but Jamie is now facing charges of ‘first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon ‘.
