Thousands protest potential Sisi election bid

Thousands of people are protesting across Egypt following Friday prayers in a show of opposition against the possibility of Egypt's military chief running for president. The protests were organised by supporters of the ousted President Mohamed Morsi and happened on the same day that the country's only presidential candidate, Hamdeen Sabahi, said his campaigners will not undermine the military. El-Sissi, who led the military ouster of Morsi in July, has not yet announced his candidacy but is widely popular and expected to win the election should he choose to run. Al Jazeera speaks with Zakaryya Abdel-Hady, an assistant professor of Islamic thought and culture at Qatar University.
