Tensions in Ukraine continue as Crimea vote nears

US Secretary of State John Kerry is meeting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in London at this hour.

It is the latest attempt to solve the crisis in Ukraine before its southern Crimea region votes in Sunday's referendum on whether to join Russia.

And tension is growing in Ukraine ahead of that vote, with one person reported killed in confrontation between pro and anti-Russia demonstrators in the eastern city of Donetsk.
