Riot police and hundreds of protesters clashed on Tuesday night after it was announced that 15-year-old Berkin Elvan had died.

The teenage boy died from injuries he sustained during an anti-government demonstration last year. He had been in a coma since he was hit on the head by a tear gas canister as he went to buy bread in Istanbul in June.
