Syrian female prisoner exchange frees nuns
  • 10 years ago
A group of more than 150 female prisoners held in Syrian jails have been released as part of an exchange deal with rebels.

The swap follows the release of 13 nuns and three monastery workers by al-Qaeda linked fighters from the al-Nusra Front.

The deal was mediated by Qatar and Lebanon.

New footage has emerged of the moment the nuns were set free.

Al Jazeera's Hashem Ahelbarra reports.
