What seemed like a sadistic fantasy in GoldenEye is far more intimidating and believable in Haywire and that's thanks to Gina Carano. She's the real life MMA fighter who takes a few hits before beating the shit out of Michael Fassbender and others in Haywire, Steven Soderbergh's clever foray into the action genre. Like Uma Thurman's Bride, Mallory Kane is an assassin screwed over by her boss, kicking ass and leaping between rooftops for the pursuit of vengeance. With the remarkably attractive, agile and muscular Carano performing her own stunts, the idea of a female action hero gained some real street cred.
