NATO strike kills five Afghan troops

In Afghanistan, at least five Afghan troops have been killed in a NATO led airstrike in the east of the country.

Several soldiers were also badly wounded in the friendly fire incident in the early hours of Thursday morning in Logar province.

NATO has already begun an inquiry into what happened but the attack is likely anger Kabul.

Coalition airstrikes on friendly targets have helped deepen divisions between Washington and Afghan President Hamid Karzai. He has refused to sign a bilateral treaty allowing US troops to remain in Afghanistan beyond 2014.
