It's been one day since a bomb tore through this busy shopping district in the Thai capital...and the death toll continues to rise.

A young girl died on Monday from brain injuries sustained by the blast. Pictures of her can be seen on this medical volunteer's mobile.

Her four-year-old brother and mother died the previous day, bringing the number of dead to three.

And more than 20 people were wounded.

"He (the wounded boy) is about my son's age. He was choking and I felt really sad and thought if he was my son, I would have gone mad. I can't accept this."

The attack -- possibly caused by a grenade -- took place close to an antigovernment protest camp in the heart of Bangkok.

It came hours after gunmen opened fire on another rally in eastern Thailand.
