Doping test sends Austrian skier home before last day in Sochi

A tainted end for the Austrian Olympic team.

As members of their delegation await Sochi's closing ceremony, they'll be down one man.

(SOUNDBITE) (German) AUSTRIA OLYMPIC CHIEF, KARL STOSS, SAYING:

"Unfortunately it's a very sad blemish on the Austrian Olympic team at the end of a very successful Olympic Games. Johannes Duerr was tested at a training session on February 16th and this test then came back positive. He'd taken EPO, tested positive. He was personally confronted during the night, after midnight, about this incident and we then immediately took his accreditation away from him and excluded him from the Olympic team, took him out of the Olympic village and he's now on his way home."

Duerr was one of several athletes who tested positive for doping.

Sweden's Nicklas Backstrom was forced to miss the Olympic ice hockey final after testing positive for a banned subs
