Explosions hit Thai protest site injuring two

STORY: Two people were injured after two explosions hit Chang Wattana, one of the anti-government rally sites outside Bangkok on Saturday (February 8), hospital officials said.

Footage carried on local TV showed the aftermath of the blasts and the injured being rushed to hospital by ambulances.

Thai media reported that two grenades had been thrown behind the stage at the anti-government protest site in Nonthaburi province, on the outskirts of the capital.

The incident happened nearly a week after a controversial snap elections that did little to ease concerns about Thailand's political crisis or economic outlook.

Ten people have been killed in sporadic bursts of violence, although Bangkok has been relatively calm since the vote on February 2.
