Most people have come across a pesky stray dog or cat in their lives. However residents in Mansfield, Massachusetts are encountering something a little different.

Turkeys are serving as the bothersome menaces. hey are about four of them in particular that have no fear of humans.

Said local animal control officer, Jeff Collins “They've stopped several people. They're 25 pounds each, standing in your way, which causes most people to stop and hesitate. The turkeys take this as a signal that you're afraid and then chase you."

Over the past several weeks, residents have come across the turkeys while leaving the bank or attempting to get into their cars. In one bizarre case, a 240 pound police officer met with them. The cop claimed the turkeys went right up to him without any fear whatsoever.

Due to all the complaints, the state’s Division of Fisheries and Wildlife has released some tips for residents. They were urged not to leave any food outside for the creatures and to cover windows or reflective items.

They were also told a few cold squirts from a hose or a little swat with a broom teaches the turkeys not to harass humans.
