Although there is no national rule about how long a customer can stay at a McDonald’s, some franchise locations have posted signs that limit how long customers can stay, which are then enforced by management.

Police were called to a McDonald’s in Queens, New York after tensions escalated between a group of older Korean men who had frequented the location daily, and managers of the franchise.

The group of men had been meeting at the McDonald’s location for five years, often spending hours over a single order or french fries of coffee, refusing to let other customers sit down.

The elderly men continued to return to the McDonald’s location even after being asked repeatedly by police officers to leave.
