As a child, Shigeru Miyamoto often visited a cave but never dared to enter; after mustering up the courage he eventually did, and that single experience later inspired him to create The Legend of Zelda.

Miyamoto intended for Ocarina of Time to be a first-person game, but designer Yoshiaki Koizumi thought it was important to see Link and instead compromised with Z-Targeting.

Nintendo didn’t want to confuse people with left-handed sword controls, so they mirrored the entirety of Twilight Princess because flipping only Link would have changed the way certain encounters worked in the game.
