At least three demonstrators have died in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv during clashes with riot police.

One man reportedly fell to his death from the top of the Dynamo football stadium, which has been the scene of unrest in central Kyiv.

Another 20-year-old man was reportedly shot dead. A Reuters cameraman was shown his body which had gunshot wounds to the head.

Police deny using any live ammunition against protesters.

The latest clashes broke out when police, using teargas, tried to dismantle a protest camp but were repelled by demonstrators hurling home-made petrol bombs.

Police say they seized canisters of harmful chemicals which they allege demonstrators were going to use against them.

Demonstrators have been protesting against President Viktor Yanukovich’s decision to shun a trade pact with the European Union.

Events became more violent on Sunday after a mass rally called by the opposition to protest against new legislation coming into force on Wednesday which will ban anti-government protests.
