Funeral for media worker killed by Taliban in Karachi

STORY: More than two hundred mourners attended a funeral for a television technician on Saturday , a day after Taliban gunmen killed him and two colleagues as they were working for a private television station in Pakistan's southern city of Karachi.

Gunmen on motorcycles shot dead the technician, who was 32 years old and named Waqas, a guard and a driver working for Express TV, the station said.

Police said they had been working on a live coverage van when they were attacked.

Relatives, friends and colleagues paid their last respects as the coffin of Waqas was brought to the prayer ground.

He was the only son to his parents and the sole breadwinner of the family.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in a phone call to Reuters.
