STORY: At least two people were killed when protesters clashed with Egyptian security forces in the cities of Fayoum and Giza on Friday, officials said.

One person was killed and several others wounded when security forces attempted to break-up a demonstration in support of the Muslim Brotherhood in Fayoum.

Armed security forces wearing balaclavas and sitting in the back of military vehicles heading towards the Brotherhood demonstration can be seen motioning threateningly towards the camera in video shot by Reuters in Fayoum.

A witness told Reuters the sound of gunfire and buckshot cartridges could be heard during the clashes.

In Ishmailia tear gas hung in the air as a Brotherhood supporter was seized and loaded into a security vehicle.

Supporters of army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and those of the Brotherhood engaged in direct street fights in al-Beheira, hurling rocks and stones at each other.
