A rights group says Myanmar's military is still using rape as a weapon of war, with the army rapping over a hundred women and girls since 2010.

The Thailand-based Women's League of Myanmar says it's documented 47 cases of gang rapes, and 28 others where the victims have either died of their injuries or been killed. The rights group added that several rape victims were as young as eight. It also says the situation shows the need for legal reform in Myanmar and for changes to a 2008 constitution to ensure that the military is placed under civilian control. The U-N has already accused Myanmarese security forces of instigating violence against Muslims in the country. It also called for an investigation into the persecution of minority groups.
