MeetMe, Inc. (NYSE MKT: MEET), the public market leader for social discovery, rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday, January 14. Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer Geoffrey Cook discussed the company's history and its new app called Choosy.“MeetMe is a social network for meeting new people,” said Cook. “We have about a million people logging in every single day. It’s very much a mobile story.”Headquartered in New Hope, Pennsylvania, the company recently raised fourth quarter revenue expectations and noted faster-than-expected mobile revenue growth for the quarter of 127 percent year-over-year and 72 percent sequentially.“Really it’s the conduit for meeting people around you,” Cook said. “So we try to connect you to the people around you, help you make new friends and meet new people.”On Tuesday, shares of MeetMe jumped 12.32 percent to close at $2.28.“We just recently announced Choosy, a stand-alone app, that hit the top of the free social new category of Android which we’re really excited about,” said Cook. “So for us it’s about innovating the core MeetMe app with new features for our users to help them facilitate and break the ice, different apps, different games potentially, and then also launching new stand-alone apps.”Members of MeetMe’s management team will remain in New York over the next few days to participate in the 16th Annual Needham Growth Conference.
