Dogs…they have an incomparable ability to melt hearts, even after getting into things they shouldn’t. A trainee police dog in the UK, named Jack recently swallowed his caregiver’s diamond, which he chewed right out of her family heirloom wedding ring.

While the sentimental worth of the jewelry piece is through the roof, the monetary value was estimated to be about $30,000. 51-year-old Angie Collins, cares for police puppies in training.

While accustomed to the mischief pups normally partake in, she had an absent minded moment and left several rings including the heirloom treasure on an end table on December 23rd.

Later, she saw a mess on the floor and the mangled wedding band. The large diamond was missing.

She brought Jack to the vet. Collins was informed the pooch would be fine, but she was unlikely to get the diamond back, as the veterinarian assumed it would stay in Jack’s stomach.

Not ready to give up, Collins bagged and searched his poop remnants multiple times a day. Then at the perfect moment on Christmas Day, Jack relieved himself and gave Collins the best present ever – her diamond.
