Austrian Emergency Crews Called Due to High Level of Radiation in Diapers

Recently, Austrian hazmat authorities were contacted when a Geiger counter exhibited ridiculously high readings for a dump truck that arrived at a local incinerator. The radiation levels were attributed to adult diapers that had been tossed in the truck.
Anytime there is a scare involving danger to human health, preventative measures are immediately taken.
Recently, Austrian hazmat authorities were contacted when a Geiger counter displayed high readings for a dump truck that arrived at a local incinerator.
Thankfully it turned out to be a false alarm. The radiation levels were attributed to diapers that had been tossed in the truck.
After the hazardous materials unit was alerted of the situation, firefighters arrived on scene to look into it. They unloaded the truck and found nothing of suspicious nature until they got the two dozen or so adult diapers.
Investigators leaned they came from a nearby hospital and had been contaminated with iodine, which is radioactive and frequently used for medical purposes.
The Hazmat teams are investigating the truck’s route and are keeping the vehicle secured in a specialized container at the incinerator for approximately a week – the time it takes for emissions to lower levels.
Authorities made it known that at no time was anyone in danger during the occurrence.
