Colorado Restaurant Offers Food and Marijuana Pairings

Marijuana smoking and eating have been long shared a close association, but likely never quite like a Colorado sushi restaurant is imagining it.

Smoking marijuana and eating have long shared a close association, but likely never quite like a Colorado sushi restaurant chain is imagining it.

To celebrate the kick-off of legalized recreational pot in the state, Hapa Sushi has launched a food and pot pairing menu.

While there is no marijuana equivalent of a sommelier yet, the restaurant does list its recommendations.

Those enjoying the restaurant’s Katsu Curry are advised to try the Blue Dream and sashimi eaters are steered toward the Platinum Cookies Blend.

Then again, the pot is listed first, so it could be the other way around.

Regardless, the restaurant, with locations in both Denver and Boulder, launched its pot-friendly campaign in a grand way, hiring an ad agency to cook up some clever print pieces.

One assures customers that the dining area is, “ergonomically designed to reduce paranoia.”

Table cards feature a weed-driven stream of consciousness that considers the downsides of keeping fish as pets, like having to go to the ocean when you want to visit them.

This isn’t the restaurants first foray into the pro-weed scene. In 2009 they published maps of area medical marijuana dispensaries.
