Two managers at a Goodyear tyre factory in northern France have been detained by workers overnight in a dispute over the site’s closure. Unions have been trying to save the plant for years, but now have resorted to securing the maximum payout for its 1,200 staff. Meanwhile, the US Senate has confirmed Janet Yellen as the new head of the Federal Reserve.
