Adolf Philipp wurde im bayerischen Ziemetshausen geboren. Er absolvierte im Sommer 1963 eine Ausbildung zum Radio- und Fernsehtechniker. Um dem Wehrdienst zu entkommen, nahm er im August 1963 eine Stelle im diesem Bereich in Berlin-Schöneberg an. Er entwickelte ein Interesse für die Grenzanlagen der Berliner Mauer. Mit dem Fahrrad fuhr er den Grenzverlauf mehrfach ab und begab sich dabei auch in das Niemandsland zwischen West-Berlin um den teilweise zurückgesetzten Grenzanlagen zu "studieren", wie er es nennt. . Er nahm Kontakt zu Fluchthelfern auf und beteiligte sich an Protestkundgebungen. Am Abend des 4. Mai 1964 fuhr er, bewaffnet mit einer Gaspistole, mit dem Fahrrad zur Grenze bei Berlin-Spandau. Zwei Posten fanden seine Fußspuren und gingen in den Erdbunker, um Meldung zu machen. Dabei trafen sie auf Adolf Philipp, der sie mit der Pistole bedrohte (DDR Version). Ein Posten eröffnete umgehend das Feuer und traf Adolf Philipp tödlich.
Adolf Philipp was born in the Bavarian Ziemetshausen. He trained as a radio and television technician in the summer of 1963. To escape the military service, he took in August 1963, a job in this area in Berlin-Schöneberg. He developed an interest in the border fortifications of the Berlin Wall. With the bike he used to ride the borders from several times and it came to pass also in the no man's land between West Berlin to the partially recessed border fortifications to "study" it (in his own words). He made contact with smugglers and participated in protest demonstratiosn . On the evening of 4 May 1964 he went armed with a gas pistol, riding the bike to the limit in Berlin-Spandau. Two guards found his footprints and went to the dugout to make a report. Here they met Adolf Philipp, who threatened them with the gun (DDR Version). A guard immediately opened fire and met Adolf Philipp fatal.

Com a bicicleta ele costumava percorrer a fronteira e também adentrar em „terra de ninguém“ entre Berlim Ocidental para "estudar" (em suas próprias palavras) as fortificações de fronteira . Ele fez contato com pessoas que ajudavam a fugir da RDA e participava em demonstrações. Na noite de 04 de maio de 1964 ele foi de bicicleta e armado com uma pistola a gás, até o limite em Berlim-Spandau. Dois guardas encontraram suas pegadas e foram para o bunker para fazer um relatório. Aqui eles se encontraram com Adolf Philipp, que os ameaçou com a arma ( Versão da DDR). Um guarda imediatamente abriu fogo e atingiu Adolf Philipp fatalmente.
