A man in Williamson County, Texas has been arrested following a dispute with a neighbor. According to police, Gary Thomas Ewald was caught on surveillance footage poisoning his neighbor, Matthew Alpers' dogs.

Back in October, Alpers complained to law enforcement authorities that he found his pets convulsing in the backyard numerous times and suspected Ewald was to blame. Cops told him there was nothing they could do without physical evidence and advised Alpers to install a surveillance camera to catch his neighbor in the act.

The device later captured 58-year-old Ewald dumping a liquid substance in Alpers’ backyard in early December. Police interviewed Ewald and eventually he admitted to poisoning the dogs because the incessant barking annoyed him.

However he also said the so-called poison wasn’t toxic. The arrest warrant noted that Ewald claimed “he cleaned his Bar-B-Q pit and … poured the remains over the fence onto his neighbor’s back yard.”

Alpers' three dogs have since recovered from ingesting the substance. As for Ewald, he is now facing charges of ‘cruelty and torture to non-livestock animals’.
