Bethesda-native Katie Ledecky smashes American record in women’s 1,650 free

16-year-old Katie Ledecky, a Stone Ridge School junior, breaks two-time Olympian Katie Hoff’s American record in the women’s 1,650-yard freestyle by nine seconds during the 2013 Winter National Championships at the University of Tennessee’s Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
