Fight in Georgian parliament over row to back Ukrainian opposition

The tension in Kyiv showed how it can cross borders when a fight broke out in the Georgian parliament.

Soso Jachviani of the ruling Dream Party lashed out, kicking Giorgi Baramidze an opposition lawmaker during a debate in which he called for parliament to show support for the opposition in Ukraine.

The words of the debate were lost and voting had to be put on hold as the members decided to sort out their differences in a rather more uncouth way, with a brawl.

It was reported Jachviani had told the opposition MPs they had no right to talk about violations of law in other parts of the world – such as Ukraine – while they’re being investigated for unlawful conduct.

The speaker of the house condemned the fight and as yet no final result has been released of the debate reflecting what is happening in Ukraine – a stand-off.
