Singapore Shocked by Worst Riots in Decades

Rioters set fire to vehicles and clashed with police in the Indian district of Singapore, known as ‘Little India’, on Sunday, December 9. The violent outbreak followed the death of an Indian worker who was hit and killed by a bus reportedly driven by a Singaporean. The violence is the first outbreak of rioting in 40 years in the wealthy Asian state and has stoked tensions between migrant workers and the country’s citizens.
