Laura Cobb was a star student starting her senior year at Washington University, Missouri, when she was hit by a drunk driver, while driving from the campus library to her apartment one night in September 2008. She suffered multiple injuries, including a stroke, and was left with aphasia – a communication disorder that impairs speak, but does not impinge intelligence.
