Taylor Radig was working at a Colorado dairy farm as an undercover agent of the animal rights group Compassion over Killing.
In the three months she was there, she filmed individuals using force to move the livestock around, including tugging at their ears and pulling at their tails as a way of lifting them.
When Radig handed the footage over to the local sheriff’s office, however, she was among those arrested and charged with a class 1 misdemeanor for cruelty.
Authorities cited her failure to bring the abuse to light while it was happening as the reason for the charges. Not reporting such activity in a timely manner violates state law.
Radig had waited for two months after ending her employment with the dairy farm to hand over the video.
In a statement, the Sheriff said she is, thus, being viewed as a participant in the cruelty.
The organization she was working for asserts her innocence, stating that witnessing abuse and partaking in it are far from the same thing.
