A pitbull pup that had a traumatic start to life is now living his happily ever after. The small dog, named “Van Gogh” was found last month at the 69th Street Station in Philadelphia.

He was bleeding heavily, as his ears had been cut off by an abusive previous owner. Thankfully, he was handed over to animal rescue workers and received surgery at a local clinic.

After the veterinary procedure, the Delaware county SPCA took “Van Gogh” in. According to a recent Facebook post by the organization, “Van Gogh will be safe and sound for the rest of his days as he has been adopted into the family of SCVH’s veterinarian Dr. Johnson!”

Not only is the puppy getting a fresh start, but the suspect allegedly responsible for cutting his ears off will face punishment. 19-year-old Kristina Murphy confessed to the act, although she said it was accidental.

The local humane society visited Murphy’ home and removed all her other pets – 10 in total. Reptiles, birds along with several other dogs and a kitten were taken to the Delaware County SPCA. Murphy has been charged with animal cruelty.
