Deadly explosions rock Iranian embassy in Beirut

At least 20 people have been killed and six buildings damaged in the Iranian embassy compound in Beirut after twin explosions.

One police source says two rockets were fired towards the area, in the southern part of the Lebanese capital, while another source said the explosions were a car bomb.

Iran is a supporter of local Islamist militants Hezbollah and Lebanon’s Shia Muslims, and the Assad regime in neighbouring Syria.
