Major Ernesto Che Guevara was interviewed by RTÉ reporter Sean Egan at Dublin Airport in 1964. The interpreter was Aer Lingus air hostess Felima Archer.

Che was born in Argentina on the 14th of June 1928.

Che's grandmother was Anna Isabel Lynch who was born in 1868 in County Galway, Ireland. She later moved to South America. Her son, Ernesto Guevara Lynch (Che's father) was born in 1900. Che also had other family roots in County Cork.

The Bolivian army (aided by the CIA) captured and murdered Che on the 9th of October 1967.

In 1969 Che's father said "The first thing to note is that in my son's veins flowed the blood of the Irish rebels".

Some Che Guevara quotes:
"We have no right to believe that freedom can be won without struggle."
"The revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall."
