Syrian opposition awaits invitation to Geneva peace talks

Amateur video which cannot be independently verified by Reuters shows no let up in Syria as bombing campaigns continue across the country.

And there are few signs that peace is at hand.

As the Syrian Opposition meets in Turkey, spokesman Khaled Saleh says they are waiting for an invitation to peace talks.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) SPOKESMAN FOR SYRIAN NATIONAL COALITION, KHALED SALEH, SAYING:

"And we are in dialogue with the secretary general of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, and we are waiting to receive an official invitation from him for the Geneva conference. What we are looking for from the Russians is to actually start applying some pressure on the Assad regime."

The U.S. and Russia are hoping to launch the so-called Geneva 2 peace talks, aimed at ending the more than two year old civil war in Syria.
