Royce Mathew is a young and blossoming acoustic folk rock singer-songwriter from Edmonton, Alberta. As a frequent performer and long-time enthusiast for the Edmonton music scene, his work captures the authentic local sound of the Canadian prairies. Growing up between the snowy winters of northern Alberta and the muggy lakesides of Manitoba, Royce continues to draw his inspiration from this dynamic landscape and from the many other artists who play along to its heartbeat. His debut album, The Sailor's Heart, features a complex original guitar score. Royce's melodic vocals and uplifting harmonica embellishments form a musical entanglement of cheerful folk rock with a hint of country twang, reminiscent of such musicians as Luke Doucet, Neil Young, and the Avett Brothers. The album was produced and recorded by Peter Stone of the award winning band, 100 Mile House, and prompted a sold-out EP release show in early March 2013.
